FAQ
Where is Kinamwei located? Kinamwei is located on the south west side of Providenciales (locally referred to as “Provo”). Provo is the main island in Turks and Caicos and is where the international airport (PLS) is located. The house is a 15 minute drive from the airport. The south west side of the island does not have any hotels or condo developments and is quiet compared to the North—this is where Dick Clark has his property. The beaches here are only used by those who have their own private properties there—it would be a crowded day on Sapodilla Bay beach if there were 10 people there. The house is located on a point between two Bays with excellent views. At the back of the house is a large National Park called Chalk Sound—it has beautiful shallow water and a great ecosystem to explore—especially if you use the kayaks that are left at the house for renters.
Are restaurants and shopping near by?
The house is located away from the developed side of the island but the time to get there is short. It's a fifteen minute drive to Grace Bay and all the main hotels, condominiums and restaurants. The shopping areas for both food and other items are also 10-15 minutes away. There is a very well stocked brand new IGA grocery store on the island. The island offers a good cross section of formal and informal restaurants as well as variety of cuisine types. I am happy to help renters find the right restaurant locations. Baby-sitting is easily arranged if needed.
Is the island safe and tourist friendly? How do I get to to the house?
The island is safe. The house is alarmed for those who want the additional protection. Provo is a small island and is an ex-British colony; its Government and policing are more active than other independent Caribbean islands. The area the house is located is away from the main tourist areas and the house has its own private beach. The island is quite religious—Sunday is an especially quiet time on the island. The locals are very friendly, relaxed and fun. On arrival on the island renters are met by the on-island management team who escort them to the house and give the renters a tour so they understand where everything is and how it all works. Theres also a manual at the house to help renters on the basic operations in the house. The on-island management team are there to assist if the renters have additional questions or issues.
